Bethel UCC in the Community
Furry Friends Pet Food Bank - Pepsi Refresh Grant winner
We may be a small congregation, but we are passionate about our mission work. One of our most successful missions is the Furry Friends Pet Food Bank. We collect and hand out pet food to needy families so that they can afford to keep their pets in these hard economic times. A testament to this passion is the coalition building required to spread the word about our pet food bank and get people all across the country to vote to fund our project.
Bethel Arts is in full swing! (See the Bethel Arts page for more info)
Southland Rainbow Chorale rehearsal Saturdays, 1:30 pm, in the Sanctuary. These are open rehearsals - everyone is welcome! We also need non-singing volunteers - please join us after rehearsals for an organizational meeting.
Church Bells Ring in Downtown Ontario
Bell Tower Renovation
For years, the old bell was silent. Some say that it cracked the day Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. Some said the bell had been removed. There were many rumors, but one thing was clear: no one had seen the bell in years. Today, the bell has been rediscovered and the crack repaired with JB Weld. To augment the big cast iron bell, we have added an electronic Carillon that chimes the hours and plays hymns. Church bells once again ring in downtown Ontario.
The Centennial of the Stone Church 1912-2012
Founded 125 years ago (prior to the incorporation of the City of Ontario) Bethel United Congregational Church will celebrate the 100th anniversary of our stone "castle" church at Euclid and F Street.
